SKIPPY'S BLOG

8- 03   At the 2002 Phoenix Dance Convention, I felt privileged to be asked to do a recitation of a song that I wrote for the Bicentennial in 1976.  The "Musical Variety Show" - held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, CA was also part of the New Years Eve Show at the Golden West Ballroom in Norwalk CA.  For my song, the icing on the cake - was singing my song - "What is America" - with a 20 piece orchestra, on a football field for  30, 000 people.
It was a command performance for then Governor, George  Dukmejian.

I have always been a "Red White & Blue" kid -  God - Home - Family - and Country.
Some things never change!

                  "What is America" (C) 1976

What is America ?  -  Who is America?  -
And just where does America stand?
 I am America !   -  You are America  !  -
And together we can hold her hand.

For SHE is - whatever WE are -
And we can be  -  whatever we -  decide.
We can cover her with shame -
Or shower her with fame -
The choice is ours   -   so lift your heads with pride -

In our America  -  It's OUR America  -
Keep that flag flyin' high up above.
 For America - (drum roll)
Will always BE America  (drum roll)
Just as long as "WE the People" -
          Keep on being "PEOPLE'S  People"
And Live our Lives -  with LOVE.
